Cultural Misinterpretation

Came across this nicely made clip about Cultural Misinterpretation. I thought this is great, just what I need to learn for my senior project. And then, I realized that the courses/workshop involves a fee (it could be written off if you are funded by Canadian International Development Agency). What a turn-off. Nonetheless, it is a perfect example to show others what I am working on for my graduation project, in terms of where the gap is.

Acid Free paper, glue, acrylic paint, and oak frame

I LOVE THIS PIECE. Found this work when I was looking for inspiration. When I saw photos of this work, I was amazed at the craftsmanship-- the labor, the amount of detail that was added to it. if you look, for the most parts, both sides of the paper were colored. And I was further amazed that it was a GUY who did this. Wonderful.. (insert applaud)! He not only focus on the paper, the location of the pieces were also put into consideration when he was photographic-- guys this is what we need to do to photograph our work "in context." I enjoy looking at his other pieces very much, especially the Broken Vase, and the Angel. And he has a sense of humor too.. He can make paper-everything.. he has the ability to make paper like porcelain, apple, cement, wood.. etc.. he is a true paper engineer with pieces that takes your breath away. Seriously, I was holding my breath when I was scrolling down his site!! Enjoy!

有耳非文

I fell in love with 有耳非文's outfit for 2008 度叱咤流行榜頒獎典禮. I wonder who did her hair, that person must be a hair master.. I could only find one clip that shows her hair, it was only a recorded version. There are two different hair styles in the clip on YouTube. 1st image shows the hair she had during award. It she looked fab there! Just like a doll, with a huge pearl necklace, a cute cupcake dress and a gianormous crazy Barbie dome hairdo. The rest of the images feature her crazy fluffy hair, as well as the bubble maker that was somehow installed in her hair.. She might not be the prettiest artist, but she sure is one of the coolest. Hong Kongers are awesome!

COM-PA-NY

Got this from a link within a link. When I saw it I immediately fell in love with it. The description of The Company is "AAMU SONG & JOHAN OLIN". I am assuming they are a couple. This is so romantically cute! Their work are so fun and full of energy. My friends.. are you thinking what I am thinking?

A is for Ox??!

Found this on gpwm.net i love it!
but cool tees/hoodies are always guy's.. damn it
but it's ok, women has way more variety of clothes/styles to choose from..

i didn't get it at first, but it's pretty damn smart/cute:

A is for Ox

"Back in the day the letter A began as a pictogram illustrating the head and horns of an Ox.

The Phoenicians wrote right to left writing the A sideways as it was quicker. The Greeks generally wrote left to right, so turned the A around. There was a point way back when a system was used called 'Boustrophedon' which translates 'as the Ox ploughs' so first A went left to right, second A right to left, and so on.

Around 500 BC writing became standardized and letters stopped changing direction. The Ox finally settled on its horns."

McCafé

and.. this is the first time i've ever been on the McDonald website..
Haven't thought of it until i'd heard about the McCafe-- the upscaled and 'premiumized' McDonald. It's simply crazy.. did i mention they have designer tables and leather seats?

I wish the money are put to a better cause.

What is Happiness?

So.. haven't been blogging for a while..
what have i been doing??... snowboarding, various gatherings, eating out, house parties..
and now that i'd tried so hard winding down, i need to b stressed out again.

Came across this in a HK documentary.
This is Seligman's formula of happiness.
H=S+C+V
H: Happiness
S: Set Range (40%)
C: Circumstances (20%)
V: Voluntary Activities (40%)

In the documentary, it is basically saying, we are born with the Set Range, it is how easily we get happy/depressesd; where the circumstances we cannot control, we can control our Voluntary Activities...
